Grants for Graduate Schools 2023

Find Your Degree!
Image of students for our coverage of grad school grants

When you’re searching for grants for graduate school, you’ll find that free financial aid is tougher to find beyond the bachelor’s level. Popular programs like the Pell Grant and FSEOG Grant are solely reserved for undergraduates. After already footing the bill for four years of higher education, taking out more loans for a graduate degree will leave you strapped with debt. That doesn’t mean you should give up on your goal of a master’s, specialist, or doctoral degree though. You can find graduate school scholarships and grants and that degree is in reach.

Importance of Graduate School Grants and Scholarships

Advanced schooling can open new career prospects. It can also reward you with a better income. Kiplinger’s Personal Finance states that master’s degree holders have a median yearly salary of $73,100, which is significantly higher than $50,281 for bachelor’s degree holders. And while federal student aid through grants and federal student loans are helpful, they often won’t cover the full bill.

Start investing in a bright professional future by reviewing the following 50 great sources for graduate school grants. These grants are competitive, but they combine to provide over $200,000 annually!

Very few students have the financial means to afford paying for a master’s degree entirely out of pocket. While you can get some money in federal student loans, and maybe pell grants or other forms of federal student aid, it’s not as much for graduate or postgraduate school. According to the NCES, the average full-time graduate tuition is $10,408 at public colleges and $21,955 at private universities each year. Like scholarships, grants provide financial aid that won’t need to be repaid. Graduate school grants typically are associated with research or service. If you have unmet financial need for your master’s or doctoral degree, consider these great sources for graduate school grant money.
