This is a job that can be found in a number of different locations. Many churches hold educational classes for people in their parish. These classes immerse them in religious studies as a way to grow in faith. You can work with adults as well as children. You may even be asked to provide guidance to parish members who may feel they are slipping in their religious beliefs.

College Professor

The majority of colleges have classes on most of the major religions in the world. You don’t have to practice that religion in order to take the class. As a religious studies graduate, you can teach a class that is specific to a certain religion you are well versed in or you can teach a class that will encompass some basic knowledge on many different religions.

High School Teacher

There are many religion-based schools in the United States that enroll students at a private level.  Typically, this job would focus on one specific religion–the one that the school is based on. According to Payscale, religion teachers earn an average salary of $45,000 per year.

Writing

There is always a place in society for writers who want to conduct research and write books on:

  • various religions
  • different groups of people
  • how religion has progressed over the years
  • the role of religion in our daily lives and so on

The topics are endless and research is always needed to shed light on some very important topics. If you enjoy writing and feel you are good at it, you can take some writing and English classes in college. They’ll help you with being able to collect your thoughts on paper and form a book on a topic you feel very passionately about.
